The ‘LoCo’ was the first Wetherspoon’s in the South East Sussex Branch area to get into the Good Beer Guide and now is the first one to reach the milestone of ten consecutive years in the Guide. A group of members met at the pub for the presentation marking the ten years, but unfortunately due to train strikes our number was much reduced. We were joined by Wetherspoon’s area manager and a photographer from the Wetherspoon’s in house magazine, so hopefully a London & County picture in the next edition. Branch Chair Peter Adams paid tribute to manager Val Cheang who has been in charge of the pub throughout and takes much of the credit for the repeated GBG listings, he also mentioned the hosting of CAMRA events, in particular last year’s welcome to the National Members’ Weekend, in which CAMRA members from all over the country rated the pub’s beer very highly. Accepting the award Val thanked CAMRA for its support and looked to carry on in the same vein in times to come.
